| The nominate subspecies is that found most commonly
advertised as Delias mira excelsa.
This species was previously thought to be a subspecies
of D. mira, but they differ in respect of the darker groundcolour
to be found in D. roepkei. There is still disagreement as to the
true status of this species.
Subspecies D. r. cieko is to be found in four
slightly differing forms, three of which have only been found, to date,
from Pass Valley in Irian Jaya. The fourth form is also found in Pass
Valley, but has also been found either side of the Irian Jaya/ Papua New
Guinea border along the Star Mountains. |
