| This is a group of very similar looking species, where identification is usually only able to be certain through the study of the genitalia. The butterflies are generally of a large size with a pattern of black ground-colour and yellow stripes and spots. Even now confusion is widespread as to the exact standing of the species and subspecies. The group itself has widespread distribution, to be found from China to India, Myanmar, Malaysia, Sumatra and Sulawesi. The species of this group enter into Mullerian mimicry with species of the Prioneris and Aporia genera. |
