A very similar species to D. belisama
distinguished in the male by the forewing being predominantly white, and
in the female, there being a row of small white submarginal spots on the
upperside hindwing.
A common species throughout its range. It flies all year round,
sometimes in enormous numbers. It can sometimes be found in company with
D. hyparete ciris where their ranges overlap.
Although mainly a species of low altitudes, it has been seen in Myanmar
at altitudes up to 7000 feet.
Delias oraia and it's subspecies were, at one time considered to
be only subspecies of D.descombesi, but has now been given
specific status. |
