Graphium (Paranticopsis) megarus megapenthes - Fruhstorfer 1902 The Spotted Zebra |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Species details : A very rare species on Samui. I have only seen this species once. It is like a small Paranticopsis macareus, but whereas P. macareus has a single row of submarginal spots on the upperside hindwing, this species has two rows. This species is thought to have two broods a year. However, both broods are in the Spring (Feb-March and March-April), as the larva will only feed on the current year's young shoots of its hostplant. This is a forest species. Early Stages : Known. More detailed life history information is available from the following resource: S. Igarishi - Life Histories of Asian Butterflies, Volume.2 , Page 344. Larval Foodplant : Orophea hirsuta (Annonaceae) Range : Burma and Indo-China to Neomalaya |
