Species details : A common, and very well known species, which can easily be recognised by the blue/green band running down the centre of both wings, on upper and underside.

This is a very rapid flyer, but can be seen patrolling paths and streams on the edge of forests, and also drinking up salts from damp ground, often in large numbers. These puddling butterflies will all be males. Females very rarely puddle, and in this species, are considerably rarer than the male.

Larval Foodplant    : Various species of Lauraceae.

Range                       : Nepal, Thailand and Laos (other subspecies can be found from Sri Lanka to China and Japan. Also Malaysia through the Archipelago as far East as the Solomon Islands).
