Species details: Recently discovered to science, this subspecies is, in fact, the only one whose scientific description is derived from a Koh Samui specimen (Caught at Hin Lad Waterfall, near Na Thon). However, the earliest specimen known was caught at Nakhon Sri Thammarat, further down the east coast 1972. No other specimens have been found there, and, though there has been a report of a specimen from our neighbouring island of Koh Phangan, Koh Samui remains the only place in the world where this can be found on a reliable basis. Its life history is unknown, and discovering this must be considered a matter of extreme urgency, as most of the sites where this butterfly has been found are designated for development. This species is easily mistaken for three other species found on the Island, Pachliopacta aristolochia asteris and a female form of both Papilio memnon agenor and Papilio polytes romulus. The photos shown are possibly the only ones ever taken of live specimens. Early Stages : Unknown Larval Foodplant: Unknown Range : Koh Samui only (possibly Koh Phangan)
